We often think about others first, care for others, appreciate what they do for us, and thank them for it. Yet, we rarely take the time to acknowledge our own achievements. Instead, we tend to downplay our successes and hardships.

Linked Creatives invited Nelson/Tasman jewellers, artists and makers to celebrate their achievements by awarding themselves a medal. A rebellious response to the habitual downplaying of our successes and struggles, this project aims to hold space for personal reflection, compassionate self-evaluation, and self-recognition. Participants were asked to make a military-style medal acknowledging their chosen achievement/s, regardless of perceived size or significance.
