Tulips and Stone

Exhibition

"Tulips & Stones" exhibition features two of my newest silver jewellery collections:

TULIP MANIA - This collection juxtaposes fine silver and gold-coloured pearls. By using crystal pearls instead of natural ones, I aim to highlight the importance of not treating animal lives simply as resources for human needs.

HOME PLANET - This greenstone collection represents my new artistic journey, where I explore the beauty of New Zealand stones. The sterling silver and greenstones serve as a reminder of the fragility of the ecosystem we are a part of. All stones were collected from rivers on the West Coast, Nelson, and Marlborough area, and carved by me.

Mike Andre

Max 200 words about the artist(s). This will be posted alongside the exhibition information.
Mike ANDRE divides his time between his houseboat floating in the tranquil beauty of Pelorus Sound and a creative studio nestled amidst the Marlborough vineyards. This connection to nature deeply influences his work.

His jewelry is characterized by the bold and innovative design, which combines silver with a wide range of materials – from base metals and glass to beach ironsand, wood, shells, semi-precious stones, and local New Zealand stones. Mike's philosophy is that beauty can be found in everything if we simply pay attention.

He is committed to ethical sourcing and avoids materials that are associated with environmental damage, animal cruelty, or human suffering.

Mike's aesthetic embraces simplicity as the ultimate form of sophistication.
