Change both erodes and reveals, marking surfaces, chipping away and exposing what is hidden or what lies beneath. Damaged in Transit’s group exhibition ‘Surface to Surface’ examines the relationship between time and change.

These forces reveal themselves physically in the exhibition's work. In some works, the passage of these forces can be read directly, while other works examine ways they might impact the body, memories and lives.

It is used by the different jewellers, in this exhibition, as a language of metaphor, an interactive object, an engagement with the senses, as memory and reminder, as an actant. When worn there is a slow osmosis between the work and the body, surface to surface with both accommodating the other. Repair, change, growth.
