WHAKATŪ, AOTEAROA

Ring Day

Workshop

This is a one-day class aimed at providing a fun experience with a great result, as well as an excellent grounding in basic jewellery techniques for those wanting to pick up the activity.

Students will practice making simple textured or polished rings in either copper or brass, then move onto making one or more silver rings from start to finish. They will learn measuring, texturing, soldering and finishing techniques to make beautiful, wearable rings.

Those with some jewellery making experience can choose from creating textured, stamped or polished rings in flat metal, or adding stacking rings in wire and bar. They may wish to make a wider ring, or a series of rings, perhaps including a tapered form or finer details and finishing, or possible stone setting for those that have done stone setting before.

Ticket price includes $30 of materials

Annie Collins

Annie is one of the founders of Workspace Studios and works from the _tautahi | Christchurch workshop. She has been making jewellery for 22 years and teaching for 18, but students continue to surprise and challenge her! She says the best things about teaching are creative problem solving and meeting people from all walks of life who discover their own joy in creating. When she is not teaching and running Workspace, she is making and selling in galleries around New Zealand under labels Buster Collins and The Wild (with Vaune Mason), as well as being a Creative Director of Mason & Collins gallery and a mum of three.
