Introduction to Gold Fill

Workshop

By the end of the day, participants will understand what gold fill is and how to use it effectively. They will learn about the metals manufacturing process, how to protect it during making, as well as techniques for annealing, soldering, hardening, and finishing.

Gold fill offers several benefits, including ease of working when annealed, excellent hardness when work-hardened, value as an alternative to solid gold, suitability for soldering and finishing, tarnish resistance, hypoallergenic qualities, durability, and beauty.

This class assumes a basic skill level, including proficiency in sawing, filing, and soldering metal. Participants will start by making a ring or a pair of earrings before progressing to more complex designs as time permits.

Optional: BYO pearls or beads.

Ticket price includes $80 of materials
