Jewellers Vanessa Arthur, Jennifer Laracy, Hilary Johnstone, and Kay van Dyk were invited to respond to Project 100’s Indicating Right Turning Left; a response that is unplanned and instinctive—an embrace of spontaneity.

It suggests that decisions are made naturally, without rigid direction, allowing the artists to create work that is individually reflective.

Here, you will see a variety of concepts and approaches—from the raw honesty of cognitive states; to the use of metaphorical language to convey meaning; to responses to materials and processes bound by no rules.

As makers, we often work in solitude, relying on experimentation to bring new ideas to life. This process is fluid and reactive, shaped by moments of discovery, intuition, and play.
