Cold Connections

Workshop

A playful yet informative workshop where you will explore how combinations of materials and processes can be joined in a variety of ways.

Practical exercises will be presented from an assortment of methods using hard and soft materials, that include various ways of utilising rivets, tabs and links. Working at a jewellery bench, you will then be guided through the techniques that you choose, to create a selection of cold connections for your own reference and visual vocabulary collection. Some attendees may go on to marry a combination of connections.

Some basic jewellery skill is recommended.

Ticket price includes $40 of materials.

Sarah Walker-Holt

Sarah Walker-Holt investigates the tactile qualities of wearable objects through wood that
intermittently incorporate mechanisms, print, textiles and moving image. Creating often complex and chaotic assemblages, Sarah utilises deconstruction, reconstruction and engineering to shape her approach and is absorbed by structural fabrication and how things work and connect.
Sarah Walker-Holt completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts at Auckland University in 2010, where she received numerous prizes. In 2011, she won the New Zealand Contemporary Jewellery Award. She has exhibited nationally and internationally and was mentored by Helen Britton as part of theHandshake Project.
