Classroom

Exhibition

“Classroom” is a show case from the educators at Dunedin School of Art in the Jewellery and Metalsmithing department. It’s aim is to show the wide range of practices that currently feed into the art school. Teaching forms an important facet to each of the participants practices, providing the space to apply wider themes of contemporary jewellery into local, student specific contexts.

The show boasts the fluid nature of arts education with shifting relationships between student/teacher to co-workers. Shared offices, benches and tea breaks unify this group, lending to robust discussions about quenching after soldering, where did all the pliers go and who didn’t sweep out the aprons. The joy of a shared workshop that is also a connective workplace is not lost on these jewellers.

This exhibition will run from 10th April - 3rd May
