Workshop
During this day long workshop participants will be encouraged to explore making cord with a variety of materials, including naturally foraged and repurposed materials. With particular emphasis on tuning in to what is available to us as cord makers, but often overlooked. Through learning these timeless skills you will discover the beauty within a handmade cord.
You will be provided with a range of materials including silk and linen to learn and experiment with and also have the opportunity to purchase an NZ made drop spindle ($15) to take home to continue your cord making journey.
This class is suitable for enthusiastic beginners, with good dexterity in their hands.
Ticket price includes $25 of materials.

Annie Mackenzie
Annie Mackenzie lives in the village of Torea Granity, on the West Coast of Te Waipounamu, the South Island of Aotearoa. Where she maintains a practice as a spinner, weaver, occasional dyer and easily distracted gardener. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in sculpture from the University of Canterbury Te Whare W_nanga o Waitaha. Over the past decade Annie has established herself as handloom weaver learning her craft through the New Zealand Woolcrafts Society of Spinners and Weavers Guilds. She was the recipient of Dame Doreen's Gift from the Blumhardt Foundation in 2024.
