Claw Setting

Workshop

This two-day workshop is designed to give students a solid foundation in various claw setting techniques and simple yet effective methods for supporting gemstones of different shapes and sizes. The focus is on mastering the techniques rather than creating perfectly finished jewellery pieces.

Students are welcome to bring their own tools, metals, and stones, as well as any half-completed ring shanks or other projects theyd like to set.

The class begins with creating claw settings for flat-bottomed stones on a plate, allowing students to understand how claws function. From there, students will progress to faceted stones, learning how to construct different types of settings and secure their stones properly.

The workshop will also cover essential tips for finishing settings to a sellable standard, along with guidance on how to make the most of pre-made claw settings.

Ticket price includes $55 of materials.

This is a 2 day course - 10th & 11th April, 10:00 - 16:00

Vaune Mason

Vaune is one of the founders of Workspace Studios and works from the _taki workshop. She absolutely loves sharing her enthusiasm for making with students. She divides her time between running Workspace, teaching, working on her own jewellery range plus The Wild Jewellery which is a brand created with Annie Collins, and being a Creative Director for Mason & Collins, our jewellery gallery. Vaune finds the challenge is to find creatively fulfilling time for herself at the bench - in between the admin of managing several arts-businesses.
