Wallace has been a practicing jeweller and sculptor for close to 50 years. Wallace did his metal work training at the Lapis Lazuli School of Silver-Smithing in Auckland in the late 70s.
Throughout the 80s and 90s Wallace became a regular on the exhibition circuit, showing at galleries around the country. His work is currently represented in collections in Auckland, London, The Hague, and Milan. He is a long-standing member of both The Medal Art Group and The International Federation of Medal Artists.
In 2004 Wallace established Catchment Gallery in Whakatū Nelson, with the intention to set up a professional dealer gallery in downtown Nelson with an extensive portfolio of high-calibre artists. Wallace's work is currently represented by Fingers in Auckland and Red Gallery in Whakatū.
